Fab Little Quilt Swap

I was asked to join this wonderful little group called The Fab Little Quilt Swap.  I have taken a bit of time off swapping and quilting so I jumped at the chance to get back in to the swing of things!

We have secret partners so here are some if the ideas I am working with!  My partner likes color so I used some of my favorite stash of Jennifer Paganelli prints along with some fabulous paper pieced patterns.

This one is called The Signature Quilt.  I think it looks like a kaleidoscope!

4 blocks together, I like it so much it may become my new pillow cover :)

This fantastic pattern called The Star I found over at Quilt Jane she has compiled 50 different blocks for 'The Desperate Housewife's Quilt' you can find all of them here!

I am anxiously awaiting to see what my partner thinks!
I am delighted to see that Jennifer likes them!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

A little bit of sewing....

I saw this idea in a magazine around the holidays and they were asking an outrageous price for it so it has been on my DIY list for a few months!  I think it turned out pretty sweet!
Happy Little Owl Scissors Holder
I used wool felt and fabric scraps and stitched it together with embroidery floss!
I also though it might be fun to attach to a rope type necklace!
So you can have your scissors handy while you are busy sewing!
I have been trying to use fabrics from my stash so I have not purchased any new fabrics for a while but I had to cave when I saw this new collection from Moda called Half Moon Modern
I just love the zig zag stripe collection such bright and cheerful colors!

It has been a snow couple of days here in Ohio and more is on the way!
Hope you are staying warm where ever you are!

~The Best Pavlova~

I am on a bit of a foodie kick!
In the process of sorting through recipes (I am on the search for a Swiss Butter cream) I came across this The Best Pavlova recipe.
I just had to try it!

For the meringue base they suggested lemon juice (which I did not have)  so I used vanilla extract. I just dumped all the meringue in a pile on top of the parchment and then use a flat spatula and made a bowl in the center.
I found these beautiful raspberries at Sam's Club!
Nothing beats fresh whipped cream!  Absolute heaven!
It was delicious and rather easy to make!
You can find the recipe here!
Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

Winter Wonderland Cake

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas Holiday!  I am making cakes these days just about as much as I am sewing so I thought I would share a few of my creations here!
This is a cake that I did for a wedding right before Christmas the theme was Winter Wonderland!

The snowman family was sculpted out of fondant.
the cake was iced in butter cream
& the snowflakes and branches were fondant and it is accented with edible sugar pearls.

Hope you are having a great day!
